Andrea Willingham, Coastal Maine Bird Studies 2007, has an essay on Audubon Magazine’s website. The 17-year old author’s piece is enhanced by a series of exquisite photos she took while at Hog Island last summer. Andrea says of her experience,  ”I knew I would never see the natural world the same way again.”  Read Andrea’s experience by clicking here.

And, although Coast Maine Bird Studies is full for 2008, your family might enjoy the new session Family Birding Adventures from June 29-July 5. Or another teen session just added this spring, Coastal Maine Marine Science Explorations from July 20-26.  Find out more by clicking here.

New Staff Member At Hog Island Audubon Center

April 21, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Bridget Butler, former Conservation Education Coordinator at Audubon Vermont, will join the Hog Island Audubon Center (HIAC) staff as Program Director this summer. She has been a teacher/naturalist for 16 years working thoughout New England. She was a participant of the Field Ornithology session in 2004 as she became interested in birding. Her passion/obsession for birds has grown tremedously over the past 5 years and she finds that her newly acquired birding skills help her relate to the adult-learner. Bridget hosts her own eclectic radio show & podcast on birds called “Beeks-A Birding Geek’s Radio Delight!” which is available online. She doesn’t have a favorite bird but considers the Nashville Warbler “hot”! She’s looking forward to meeting everyone at the FOHI week in June.

There was a special camaraderie that developed among the staff as they returned year after year, devoted to each other and to the environmental education cause they served. Keep reading →

Here it is, the new and improved FOHI Web site!
