Friends of Hog Island (Maine)

Welcome to new Friends of Hog Island Web site!

Here it is, the new and improved FOHI Web site!

As publisher of the first-generation site at naturecompass.org, I had always intended for FOHI, and other groups, to get started there, with the idea that, one day, they would take flight. Well, that day has arrived.

The original site will remain accessible as an archive, but all new content will be put here.

What are the benefits? This new Web site can be edited much more easily than the previous site. As a result, we are now looking for a new publisher to take the reins for this site and for our growing e-mail list of former Hog Island participants.

I am grateful for all the support I’ve received from FOHI folks, from Maine Audubon staff, and from Hog Island campers from over the years. Special thanks go to Tom Schaefer, who edited the original Across the Narrows newsletter, from which much of the Web site content originated.

I hope you will come back and visit to follow the evolution of this treasure, this nature center which has been at the forefront of environmental education for over 70 years.

-Jay Collier, former Web publisher
